BUILDING A HOUSE
One of the ideas that were brought up during the first meeting of the Fundraising Committee, was building a house. During the past few months several members of the Fundraising Committee have met with a selected group of individuals and discussed the opportunities with regards to purchasing a lot and building a house.
In order to plan and organize this project, a House-Building Committee has been set up with the following members: Martin Biemond (President/Project Manager), Mark Klaassen (Treasurer), Martin Klyn (Secretary/Fundraising Committee representative), Jason Lindhout, Jan Pannekoek, and Anton Van De Pol.
If you have ways of donating time, labor or products to this fundraiser, please, contact our Project Manager Martin Biemond at (604) 991-1215 or Martin@mbeconstruction.com. You can also approach any of the members on this committee with any questions and ideas as well. We are looking forward to your responses and input!

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMOBJECTIVE: To raise money for the school, we purchase certificates/gift cards at a discounted rate and sell them at full value.
You can raise money for the school through your everyday shopping. For example: A typical family may spend $1,000 on groceries per month at Superstore. By using our gift cards, they will be giving $600 per year to the school ($12,000 at 5% discount = $600). You can order many other gift cards, such as for Save-on-Foods (8% discount), Safeway (5%), Fraser Valley Meats (10%), Hofstede’s (5%), etc., etc. You may wish to download an order form for a complete list of gift card vendors. See Order Form on our website. MONTHLY ORDERS: Several families use the convenient ‘standing order’ method. Usually at the beginning of a school year they select which certificates of which amounts they need. We send their ordered cards home via a child at school in the first week of each month. A few families pick up their cards at school. Payments will be processed automatically on the first day of each month - or a few days later if you so wish. (To start an AFT, Automated Funds Transfer, please email me at th1346@outlook.com and I will send you an application form.) You can also pay with (post-dated) cheques. Although you can change your ‘standing order’ at any time, we appreciate you notifying us one week in advance. OCCASIONAL ORDERS: If you prefer to place ‘occasional orders’, please email me at th1346@outlook.com. You can also email the school at office@mccs.ca or phone the school at 604-794-3072 or go directly to the office at school. We will be buying ahead so we’ll have some stock on hand. However, there are no guarantees. The preferred method of payment for an ‘occasional’ order is cheque (or cash) and E-transfers to th1346@outlook.com Please do NOT use a credit card. The school is charged a total of 4% in credit card fees. Even if a store gives us 5% discount, that is hardly profitable for our school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at th1346@outlook.com or phone me at 604-792-1346. |
LADIES AID
Heart in Hands Ladies Aid
Since the school’s inception, the Ladies Aid has been there to fundraise for it. Every other Thursday evening, the board and members meet to discuss upcoming events, and/or to prepare items to sell. Some of the fundraisers include: Fall Sale and Spring Sale, lobby sales throughout the year, meat fundraiser from Meadow Valley Meats, ‘soep groenten’, meatballs, student lunch, etc.
Heart in Hands ends each calendar year by putting together seniors’ baskets and distributing candy bags to all school children.
Heart in Hands Ladies Aid always welcomes more volunteers, so feel free to drop in to one of our meetings and see what it’s all about. You can also contact of the board members if you are interested in helping out.
